lace and kittens

This is a picture of my first attempt at Honiton Lace. I bought 36 bobbins on ebay..(oh, what a tempting place that is...I have just bought myself Mary Konior's Tatting in Lace for £5.52) and so I attempted the first two practice strips from Suzanne Thompson's Introduction to Honiton Lace. The threads are very fine, 120 perhaps, and I pulled the first strip to bits as I pulled the pins out. :(

For the link...it's now in my blog list under "life, death and what not to wear..." but I'm afraid the kittens still haven't opened their eyes yet, they obviously haven't read my particular cat care manual which suggests a week as the correct time.

I think I'm going to have to read up on Honiton lace. I've heard of it, but I really don't know anything about it. Something new to learn! Yea!

Glad you found some goodies online. I don't know all that much about the different types of bobbin lace. Good luck with the Honiton; it's great that you are trying something new.

Be sure and let those kittens know they are behind schedule, LOL! I've known very few things in life to go "by the book", LOL!

Kitties
I just love kittens.
Well totally off topic,I noticed in comments on Tatskool that you said beads were too heavy appearing for size 80 thread.
Have you tried size 13 or 15 beads.
these work fine for a single ply of metallic thread which has to be at least as fine as size 80.
If you cannot find these locally and would like to try some please email me with your snail mail address and I will send you a few.
