Learning, and back to basics

I have found blogging an excellent stimulus for learning and improving my work. Recently I bought Jon's book of snowflake patterns, and it has been a good way to learn and practise split rings and two shuttle work. These three are my first attempts.

I am also doing a back to basics doily, shuttle and ball, size 50 DMC cordonnet, from the french tatting book. I have only done two rows so far, and there are five, I wonder if I will ever complete it.

The snowflakes are lovely. YOu did a good job, as usual. Don't you just love Jon's book? The doily is very pretty also and I am sure you will finish it.

Lot's of eye candy today! These look very well tatted. They are all lovely! Sometimes we all need to go "back to basics".

These are so pretty! I have Jon's book also, but I haven't tried any of the designs yet... too much going on!

I find it refreshing to go back to old favorites, ones from my early tatting, and seeing how I've improved and what I've learned since then and how to improve what I did then. I've just tatted and rewritten the instructions from a favorite bookmark I tatted in 1999-2000.

Those snowflakes look awesome and the doily looks great. Sometimes it's fun to do a 'back to basics' pattern.

Pretty, pretty, pretty! I've been working my way through Jon's book as well -- they are great designs and you've done them so nicely. The doily is very interesting. It looks like a pattern I'd like to try.

Bonsoir, et merci de votre gentille visite. Je ne connaissais pas votre blog. C'est chose faite maintenant, et je constate que vous aimez beaucoup la frivolité vous aussi.

Lovely colours for the snowflakes. Yep, the doily looks interesting. I'll will to tat up a small doily soon for an exchange, so many pretty designs out there to decide!
